Mega March Ukraine – Unbreakable Nation

"Unbreakable Ukraine Mega-March: A Powerful Display of Solidarity and Resolve"

Once a year, the river in downtown Chicago turns a distinct green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. However, last Saturday, it donned a striking blue-yellow hue, not from dye, but from the reflection of the blue sky, yellow sun, and hundreds of flags, filling the space with colors cherished by Ukrainians. Thousands marched along Michigan Avenue, embodying the spirit of Ukraine, defending its ideals under the vibrant sky.

Organized by the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America, Illinois branch, the "Unbreakable Ukraine" mega-march marked the 32nd Independence anniversary, a grand spectacle that required significant effort but proved worth it.

The event served as a constant reminder of the ongoing Ukrainian struggle for freedom and democracy. Attendees expressed gratitude to America, acknowledged the ongoing war with Russia, and spoke out against the atrocities committed by Russia, emphasizing the urgent need for global support.

Marchers, including people of all ages and backgrounds, carried flags, sang songs, and shared smiles. Beautifully adorned in national costumes, some distributed blooming sunflowers, symbolizing Ukraine's commitment to peace. Amidst the festivities, harsh truths were voiced about Russia's lies, cruelty, and bloodshed, prompting a collective call to action to end the violence and seek international assistance.

Congressman Mike Quigley and other rally presenters, including Maria Dmytriv-Kapeniak and Ihor Diaczun, conveyed sincere wishes and messages of support. The Proclamation from Governor Jay Pritzker urged Illinois residents to join the celebration and re-commit to helping Ukraine regain sovereignty.

The Consul General of Ukraine in Chicago, Serhiy Koledov, and Belarusian friends, marching in solidarity, shared insights on the harsh reality Ukraine faces. The rally echoed a sentiment: to be a worthy rear for the front line, each person must contribute to victory.

In conclusion, the "Unbreakable Ukraine" mega-march was not just an event; it was a powerful declaration of unity, resilience, and the unwavering spirit of a nation fighting for its ideals. The hope is that the world continues to stand with Ukraine until the next Independence Day is marked by peaceful celebrations rather than the echoes of deadly rockets.
