Chicago’s Ukrainian community Honored the Heavenly Hundred (Небесна Сотня) who were killed by Russian proxy snipers on February 18-20, 2014. They gave their lives defending the Ukrainian people, their right to liberty and freedom. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Ukraine is again under Russian aggression and threats of war. In the name of those Hundred who sacrificed their lives, the people of Ukraine are united in defense of their country and against Russian occupation. Ukraine’s people will defend their land to the end.
A memorial candle service was held today, February 20, at the Ukrainian National Museum in Chicago, and an event including music, poetry, reminiscence about participation in the Maidan by Bishop Benedict of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, and a brief documentary video about the Maidan of 2014. The commemorative program was covered by Chicago’s main television and radio outlets. The event was co-sponsored by Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Illinois Division and Ukrainian National Museum.

Молимося за Україну!
