The meeting with the first Ukrainian Nobel Peace laureate, lawyer Olexandra Matviychuk, surpassed many expectations.The evening was organized by the Head of the Kyiv-Mohyla Foundation, Ms. Marta Farion, and the Programming Director of KMF, Ms. Maria Klymchak, and under the management of UIMM, President, Motria Melnyk.
Both halls of UIMM were filled with representatives of organizations, leaders of the Greek Catholic Church, Metropolitan Bishop Borys Gudziak, Bishop Benedict Aleksiychuk, and activists. The meeting room barely accommodated all those willing. The ceremony began with a speech by the Chairwoman of UIMM management, Ms. Motria Melnyk.
She stated that Ukraine and the common desire to overcome all challenges and the Russian occupier had brought us together. Olexandra Matviychuk and her team have been entrusted with a great mission because the Ukrainian voice was heard worldwide as a manifesto of justice and protection of life on earth. The Chicago community has the great honor of hosting the Nobel Peace laureate Olexandra Matviychuk!
The initiator of the invitation, Ms. Marta Farion, heightened anticipation of the famous guest's speech by mentioning the longstanding friendship and cooperation in organizing various events with UIMM, as well as how much has been done and what the young ones were like, starting their journey, for the integration of the Ukrainian community into the American world.
