The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA), Illinois Division, staged another protest on June 30 in Chicago near the Wrigley Building. The rally advocated for Ukraine’s right to strike Russian targets and called for the withdrawal of international businesses from Russia. Marta Farion, UWC Vice President for North America and Vice President of the UCCA, reported on it.
“We are here in Chicago. Russia is a terrorist state! Slava Ukraini!” Marta Farion captioned a photo.
“For me, protests are about not being indifferent, about issues that deeply touch the heart, about taking a stance that people are not afraid to show to the world, about their strength, unity, and ability to prioritize what is important and necessary! It’s about the ability to shout about the most crucial issues so that we are heard! Every step we take in addressing certain issues has consequences; every step not taken also does! We ourselves must become the changes we want to see in the world,” wrote one of the participants, Darina Semenets, about the protest.
The UCCA Illinois Division called on the Ukrainian community in the US to appeal to the White House to lift any restrictions on Ukraine’s use of ATACMS missiles.
Earlier, Marta Farion, UWC Vice President for North America and Vice President of the UCCA stated that the restrictions on strikes on Russian territory, set by the Pentagon for Ukraine since the beginning of the supply of American weapons, are completely unjustified and have knowingly placed the Ukrainian side at a disadvantage.
