DESCRIPTION:Author Volodymyr Mula will give his presentation in Ukrainian.\nThe events in Ukraine during the early 20th century resonate with us even today. The book “Wayne Called Me” tells the story of the famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky. It features unique photographs and stories of the families of exceptional hockey players of Ukrainian origin\, providing a glimpse into the country’s atmosphere during that time. Many of these players’ ancestors were quite intimidated and didn’t disclose their Ukrainian heritage until 1991 when Ukraine gained independence.\nVolodymyr Mula\, the writer and director\, has used this book as the backdrop to create a groundbreaking documentary film called UKE. This film\, which took the world by storm in 2020\, chronicles the triumphs of Ukrainian fighters for independence through Mula’s lens. \nAuthor Volodymyr Mula will present in Ukrainian.

DESCRIPTION:Ukrainian National Museum\nArt Exhibit Opening\, Friday\, May 17\, 2024. 7:00 pm\nExhibit Runs through June 9\, 2024 \n“Our Soul Never Dies” is an art exhibit dedicated to the memory of Eugenia Sakevych Dallas (1925-2014). The exhibit showcases her paintings\, posters\, and book\, which reflect her life experiences\, including the Genocide against Ukrainians in 1932-33. Through her struggles\, Eugenia achieved significant accomplishments and triumphs. She was an exceptional woman who\, as a child\, survived the Genocide and rose to become a model in Europe and “lived the joy of freedom” in the United States\, where she lectured about the Soviet-engineered Genocide\, authored “One Woman Five Lives Five Countries\,” and contributed to the U.S. Congressional investigation that declared the Holodomor a GENOCIDE. When alone\, she painted cityscapes and rural scenes\, reminding her of the many places she lived. These paintings brought her reflection and joy. \n
