DESCRIPTION:The Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art\, Kyiv Mohyla Foundation and Chicago Business and Professional Group  present the Distinguished Speakers Series with Johanan Petrovsky-Shtern\, Crown Family Professor of Jewish Studies and Professor of Jewish History. He recently  published book\, “Jews and Ukrainians: A Millennium of Co-Existence explores the idea that there is much that ordinary Ukrainians do not know about Jews and that ordinary Jews do not know about Ukrainians. As a result\, those Jews and Ukrainians who may care about their respective ancestral heritages usually view each other through distorted stereotypes\, misperceptions\, and biases. This book sheds new light on highly controversial moments of Ukrainian-Jewish relations and argues that the historical experience in Ukraine not only divided ethnic Ukrainians and Jews but also brought them together.

DESCRIPTION:Art Exhibit by Volodymyr Podlevsky and Svitlana Moiseieva\n Opening Reception Friday\, November 4\, 2016\, 7:00 pm ~ $10.00 \nA marriage of art and life\, the artists Volodymyr Podlevsky and Svitlana Moiseieva will exhibit their oil paintings in a joint showing at the Ukrainian National Museum. They are husband and wife and have both been classically trained in Ukraine. While their styles and techniques are different\, the joy of life\, nuances of Ukrainian culture and beauty is individually captured in their works. \nVolodymyr Podlevsky was born in the Zhytomyr Region of Ukraine\, in 1985 he finished the Lviv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts. His artwork has been displayed in over 30 exhibits in the United States and Ukraine 1990-2016. Svitlana Moiseieva\, Podlevskys wife\, was born in Chernihiv\, Ukraine. After completing the Chernihiv Academy of Art in 1990\, she studied iconography at the St. Michael the Archangel Church. DESCRIPTION:Українське Незалежне Радіо та Український Інститут Модерного Мистецтва запрошує громаду на концерт Брії Блессінґ. \nUkrainian Independent Radio  and the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art invite you to a first time concert of Bria Blessing. Bria Blessing is known in Ukraine as “an American with Ukrainian soul.” She is a young and talented singer and musician who was born in Sugar Land\, Texas\, a Houston suburb. Her family moved to live in Ukraine when Bria was only 13 years old\, and for over 20 years she has been living\, working\, and performing in Lviv\, Ukraine.\nIn August of 2015\, this talented singer travelled to her native United States and Canada to give 12 charity concerts in support of victims of the war in Ukraine. She sings in both Ukrainian and English.
