SUMMARY:Private Screening of Film BUCHA
DESCRIPTION: Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art invites you \nfor the private screening of BUCHA\nThe power of film ensures that history vividly records and condemns Putin’s war.\n\n\nThe Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art proudly presents the critically acclaimed film Bucha\, with English subtitles. This screening underscores the vital role of culture\, especially film\, in exposing the brutality of Putin’s regime.\n\n\nWhen the Russian Armed Forces invaded Ukraine in 2022\, over 1\,000 civilians were brutally murdered in the city of Bucha\, in what is now known as the Bucha Massacre. Amid the tragedy\, 203 Ukrainian lives were saved\, thanks to the heroic efforts of activist Konstantin Gudauskas. The feature film Bucha tells the story of his extraordinary bravery. Often referred to as an “angel of salvation\,” Gudauskas\, a Kazakh citizen granted political asylum in Ukraine years earlier\, retained his freedom of movement even during the war. He used that freedom to rescue 203 Ukrainians\, driving them out of Russian-occupied territory.\n\n\nProducer and screenwriter Oleksandr Shchur will discuss the challenges and significance of filming in Bucha.\n\n\nMore information: https://uima-chicago.org/events/bucha-screening\nTickets: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bucha-tickets-989700138757…
