A ZOOM meeting with Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi and Ukrainian-Americans in Illinois

Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Illinois Division initiated Meet your Members of Congress – a new project. With the current situation of the Corona Virus preventing personal receptions, a ZOOM call was held with Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, who represents the 8th District of Illinois, where many Ukrainian-Americans live. This was the first meeting on ZOOM with a congressman, and others will follow, in an effort to advocate bipartisan support for Ukraine and for the interests of the Ukrainian-American community.
Congressman Raja (as he is popularly called) stated in a brief remarks that he is pleased to join the Congressional Caucus of Ukraine as a member, and reassured his continuous support for U.S. aid to Ukraine and his strong position for strong sanctions against Russia for its invasion of Donbas and Crimea, and its aggression in the world.

There was a Question and Answer period, which included a question about about support for Ukraine’s inclusion in NATO membership and continuous military aid to Ukraine, and financial aid for economic recovery, especially for small and medium sized businesses. The congressman assured participants of the ZООМ session that his position is to support Ukraine’s closer ties with Western security institutions and European integration, and stated that he will support the next economic recovery bill.
