Logo Concept
The Ukrainian Village – State Cultural District logo is a visual story that conveys the richness of Ukrainian heritage, spirituality, knowledge, and creativity that grow and flourish in the very heart of Chicago.
At its foundation is an open book. It symbolizes the beginning of knowledge, educational institutions, schools, and libraries that are the cornerstone of spiritual development. From its pages, national consciousness emerges, embodied in the Tryzub (Trident), placed at the center of the composition. The Tryzub is a symbol of Ukraine, its spiritual strength, and identity.
This consciousness does not merely emerge — it blossoms and bears fruit. Its growth is illustrated by the sunflower — a traditional symbol of Ukraine, the sun, life-giving energy, and prosperity. At the same time, this flower represents the community that takes root, flourishes, grows, develops, and passes its strength on to future generations.
An important spiritual foundation in the logo is represented by two churches — St. Nicholas Cathedral and Sts. Volodymyr and Olha Church. They stand as two spiritual pillars of the Ukrainian neighborhood — centers of faith, unity, and national spirit.
The pysanka (Ukrainian Easter egg) echoes traditions and symbolizes the Ukrainian National Museum, where the soul of the nation, its art, rituals, and history are preserved. Next to it is the artist’s palette, representing the vibrant artistic life, inspiration, and creativity that continue to flourish in the community today. It also refers to the Ukrainian Institute of Modern Art — an important center of contemporary Ukrainian culture in the diaspora.

Логотип Ukrainian Village – State Cultural District — це візуальна розповідь про багатство української спадщини, духовності, знань і творчості, що зростають і розквітають у самому серці Чикаго.
В його основі — відкрита книга. Вона символізує початок знань, освітні інституції, школи та бібліотеки, які є фундаментом духовного розвитку. З її сторінок проростає національна свідомість, уособлена тризубом, що розміщений у центрі композиції. Тризуб — це символ України, духовної сили та ідентичності.
Ця свідомість не просто проростає — вона квітне й дає плоди. Її зростання зображене через соняшник — традиційний символ України, сонця, життєдайної сили й процвітання. Водночас ця квітка уособлює громаду, що пускає коріння, рясно засівається, росте, розвивається й передає свою силу наступним поколінням.
Важливу духовну опору в логотипі символізують дві церкви — Катедральний собор святого Миколая та Собор святих Володимира і Ольги. Вони постають як два духовні титани української околиці — осередки віри, єдності та національного духу.
Писанка — це відлуння традицій, символ Українського Національного Музею, де збережено душу народу, його мистецтво, обряди та історію. Поряд із нею — палітра, що втілює активне мистецьке життя, натхнення і творчість, які сьогодні розквітають у громаді. Вона також є посиланням на Інститут Модерного Мистецтва — важливий центр сучасної української культури в діаспорі.
